A Bellway Durham site manager has secured a second consecutive national construction award for his work at the Hedworths Green development at Lambton Park, near Chester-le-Street.
Anthony Church, who is from Newton Aycliffe, has been recognised with a Seal of Excellence in the National House Building Council’s 2026 Pride in the Job Awards. The accolade marks his second year receiving the award for his work at the development.
Recognition for the Hedworths Green team
Church said he was proud to have received the award again and credited the wider site team for maintaining high standards. He said the development’s level of detail made it challenging to deliver correctly, but that the full team had responded to that challenge.
“I’m incredibly proud to have secured the Seal of Excellence for the second year running. It’s thanks to the hard work of the entire site team, and I’m grateful for their commitment and dedication in maintaining such high standards. A site with this level of detail is always a challenge to execute and get it right first time, and the full site team stepped up to the plate.”
The Pride in the Job Awards are now in their 45th year and are described as among the most prestigious awards in the housebuilding industry.
How the award is judged
The judging process covers the full range of a site manager’s responsibilities. This includes consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpreting drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.
The North East regional awards ceremony took place on Friday 18 September at Royal Armouries New Dock Hall in Leeds.
Bellway Durham’s head of construction, Dan Ferguson, said the result reflected the company’s focus on quality. He praised Church and the Hedworths Green team for their commitment to high construction standards and described the recognition as well deserved.
“Success in the Pride in the Job awards is part of Bellway’s strategic focus on quality. We are extremely proud of Anthony and his team, who have been recognised for their unwavering commitment to achieving the highest standards in construction. Their hard work has been rewarded at the highest levels and it’s incredibly well-deserved.”
