North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) will unveil its strategy for the next decade at an Annual General Meeting in Belmont this October, giving members of the public and regional partners an early look at how the ambulance service plans to respond to changing healthcare needs.
The AGM will take place at The Durham Centre in Belmont from 2pm to 4pm on Thursday, 8 October 2026. NEAS is inviting colleagues, partners, stakeholders and members of the public to attend.
Booking is open through the registration link published by NEAS, but places must be secured by 30 September. The service has provided the booking link as https://bit.ly/4qwXvWI.
What visitors can expect
The event will combine the formal AGM with an opportunity to find out more about NEAS’s future direction. Attendees will be able to explore interactive displays and meet teams from across the organisation as they present their plans and ambitions for the coming decade.
NEAS said the displays will be aligned with its new strategy. Each one will show how different teams are helping to deliver the service’s vision for the future, while the AGM itself will be used to celebrate the organisation’s strengths and examine the opportunities ahead.
The strategy has been shaped through engagement with NEAS colleagues, patients, communities and partner organisations. It is intended to identify the things that must not change, alongside the areas where the service needs to adapt as healthcare requirements, technology, workforce expectations and public services evolve.
Why the strategy matters across the North East
NEAS serves 2.7 million people across the North East and employs more than 3,600 colleagues. During 2025/26, its teams answered more than 1.475 million NHS 111 and 999 calls.
The service said the new plan is being developed from a position of strength, while also setting out how NEAS will continue to evolve. Its stated focus is on turning change into opportunity and redesigning care around the needs of patients and communities.
Chief executive Kevin Scollay said the AGM would mark the start of the organisation’s next chapter and provide a chance to share its long-term plans with people across the region.
“This is an exciting moment for NEAS. We begin our next decade from a position of strength, trusted by patients, respected by partners and supported by highly skilled colleagues. “Our new strategy is about turning change into opportunity and redesigning care around what matters most to our patients and communities. I look forward to welcoming colleagues and partners from across the region as we share our plans and open the next chapter together.”
NEAS chair Stuart Corbridge said the meeting would also reflect on the service’s achievements during the past year. He described the strategy as a long-term guide intended to keep the organisation modern, responsive and compassionate for future generations.
For Durham residents, the Belmont meeting offers a local opportunity to hear directly about the future direction of the regional ambulance service and speak with teams involved in delivering its work.
