Some of Durham’s best-known landmarks are taking an unexpectedly eerie starring role in The Stitcher, a new short horror film from award-winning North East filmmaker Dean Midas.
The film was filmed entirely on location in and around Durham and will be available to watch from 2 October through Dean Midas Films on YouTube and Facebook. It is also being promoted as a weekend release for audiences in Durham and beyond.
Durham locations feature in the film
The Stitcher includes the Shakespeare Tavern, the City Theatre and the Durham Regatta among the recognisable locations featured in the production. The film combines Durham’s historic landmarks and venues with a high-tension independent horror storyline.
Although the plot is described as spine-chilling, the production presents Durham in a visually striking way, highlighting what the film’s makers describe as the city’s historic beauty and distinctive character.
Local cast brings the story to life
The production features an all-local cast drawn from across the North East. Their performances are central to the film’s atmospheric approach and its eerie narrative.
“We wanted to create something truly atmospheric while showcasing the incredible locations and the fantastic acting talent we have right here in the North East,”
Director Dean Midas said the cast had done a “fantastic job” bringing the story to life and that the team was looking forward to audiences in Durham and elsewhere experiencing the film.
Viewers can stream The Stitcher via Dean Midas Films on YouTube and Facebook from 2 October.
